SunTrust Bank Debunks Claims of Inability to Pay Staff of National Assembly

SunTrust Bank has debunked claims that the bank failed to pay some staff of the National Assembly who protested non-payment of their salaries on Tuesday. It would be recalled that the protest by legislative aides was triggered by the death of Hassan Abiodun, an aide to the Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Suleiman as they blamed the death on non-payment of salaries.

However, SunTrust on Wednesday debunked claim in some quarters that the bank has held on to their salaries without paying them.

Executive Director, Finance and Risk Management of the Bank, Mr. Usman Abdulqadir, who briefed newsmen on behalf of the CEO, Mr. Muhammad Jibrin at the bank’s office in Lagos recently said the Bank had duly “executed all mandates given to it with respect to making payment on behalf of its customers promptly”.

Stop Child Labour- Bolanle Ambode Charges Parents and Guardians

Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, has called on mothers and guardians to stop child labour and pay more attention to the welfare of their children and wards.
She made the remarks over the weekend while interacting with newsmen at Ikeja, on the celebration of the 2017 World Day Against Child Labour.

Bolanle noted that, child labour is a crime against humanity as it keeps the child away from all benefits of childhood, which is about the happiest and most memorable period in the life of a human-being.
According to her, the non-eradication of the illegal act interferes with the child’s right to basic education and care, thus making them vulnerable.
She described child labour as “the employment of children in any work that deprives children of the joy of childhood; interferes with their ability to attend regular schools” adding that such practice is “mentally, physically, socially and morally dangerous and harmful to the society as it is considered exploitative.”
