SunTrust Bank Debunks Claims of Inability to Pay Staff of National Assembly

SunTrust Bank has debunked claims that the bank failed to pay some staff of the National Assembly who protested non-payment of their salaries on Tuesday . It would be recalled that the protest by legislative aides was triggered by the death of Hassan Abiodun, an aide to the Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Suleiman as they blamed the death on non-payment of salaries. However, SunTrust on Wednesday debunked claim in some quarters that the bank has held on to their salaries without paying them. Executive Director, Finance and Risk Management of the Bank, Mr. Usman Abdulqadir, who briefed newsmen on behalf of the CEO, Mr. Muhammad Jibrin at the bank’s office in Lagos recently said the Bank had duly “executed all mandates given to it with respect to making payment on behalf of its customers promptly”. He said as banker to some National Assembly accounts, the Bank “has received the mandate to make payments to various beneficiaries and those payments have since been relayed, some via REMIT

Sosoliso Plane Crash Survivor Emerges Most Outstanding Student; Gains Admission for MBA!

Sosoliso plane crash survivor, Kechi Okwuchi has graduated with a First Class degree from University of Thomas Houston, Texas. Not only that, she was inducted into six academic honour societies, was the most Outstanding student for her major in Economics and has already been accepted into graduate school for her MBA. She was also chosen to give the commencement address to the class of 2015 at her school. Ms. Okwuchi survived the ill-fated Port-Harcourt bound flight which crashed on the runway and killed 107 people, including her close friend who was sitting next to her and late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya. What makes her story so touching is the fact that she was one of only two survivors on that plane. Stop Child Labour- Bolanle Ambode Charges Parents and Guardians

Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, has called on mothers and guardians to stop child labour and pay more attention to the welfare of their children and wards. She made the remarks over the weekend while interacting with newsmen at Ikeja, on the celebration of the 2017 World Day Against Child Labour. Bolanle noted that, child labour is a crime against humanity as it keeps the child away from all benefits of childhood, which is about the happiest and most memorable period in the life of a human-being. According to her, the non-eradication of the illegal act interferes with the child’s right to basic education and care, thus making them vulnerable.
