After Decades Of Trying, 59 Year Old Woman Gives Birth To A Healthy Baby
Never Say Never!
A couple in Albany, New York, who have been married for almost 40 years, were
never able to have any children, although they’ve tried many times but with no
success. At the age of 59, Akosua Budu Amoako and her husband Isaiah Somuah
Anim, who is also 59, probably thought that day would never come. But the
couple still kept hope alive, as she began fertility treatments in hopes of
becoming a mother one day. Reportedly, Akosua Budu Amoako gave birth to her
first and only child last month.
Unable to
conceive with her husband, the couple took part in fertility treatments and at
age 59 those treatments have paid off, as reported on Abc7chicago. Amoako was
able to carry her pregnancy to full term and deliver a healthy 7-pound, 4-ounce
baby boy named Isaiah Somuah Anim, after his father. The child was born in
Niskayuna, near Albany, on June 15th at Bellevue Woman’s Center.
Mom And Baby Doing Fine
Dr. Khushru Irani, the delivery doctor stated
on Monday, that “They’re doing super, very well,” and the happy parents “are so
happy about the whole thing.” as posted by the source. Dr. Khushru Irani, who
delivered the baby, told The Associated
Press on Monday that the couple’s so happy about the whole thing. For 38
years Amoako and her husband have tried to have a baby naturally but eventually
gave up. But last year they heard about a 60 year old woman from Ghana, which
is where the couple is from, who took fertility treatments and gave birth to
triplets decided along with their doctors to see if she too, could conceive
through fertility treatments as posted by the source. Irani was hesitant
initially, due to the complications associated with giving birth at such a late
age. “Initially, when I saw her, I’m saying no, it’s not a good idea for your
health to have a baby at your age,” the doctor said. “But they were very
insistent and they wanted to try it out.” It cost the happy couple $20k dollars
to have this child and they are not complaining about it. “We haven’t gotten
much sleep, but I feel fine and I think he already knows our voices,” Budu told
the Times Union.
“And our son is born an American, and a New
Yorker,” Amin said. The couple came to the United States in 2005 and are now
naturalized citizens. Congrats to the proud parents
