100-Year Old Victim of the Markurdi Flood Cries For Help

Kutsuwe Kwembe, a 100-year old victim of the Markurdi flood is pleading for support from Benue State Government. She is one of the 110,000 people displaced by flood and is sheltered at the internally displaced persons’ camp in the state.
Kutsuwe recently told the media that the current flood disaster was the third she had experienced in her life time. Eight years ago, her house was first destroyed in a flood around Gyado Villa neighbourhood. In 2012, she was a victim of the flood caused by the opening of Lagdo Lake Reservoir in Cameroon. According to her, the recent flood has ruined some of the basic things in her house and flushed away the rest.

Although, they were visited by the First Lady of Benue State, Eunice Ortom, she explained that the governor’s wife just prayed and left.
